Thanksgiving 2007

I know this really doesn't have anything to do with the house but anyways this is a slide show of Thanksgiving 2007

and for everybody that did not know that tree had a slight bee infestation but they are supposed to be eliminated so I guess if it gets cut open we shall see.

Also here is an image of the plot after he brought in more dirt and a surveyors level. At one end the plot rises above two feet and the other it sinks below one foot

The Work Has Begun

The excavation guy came out yesterday to start tearing down some trees he is surprisingly fast since he came out late yesterday afternoon and tore down all the trees except for a small peach tree and the pecan but just as I thought he was going to start work on the pecan he tore an oil line on his bulldozer pushing over a cedar tree.

He came back today and worked till noon fixing his bulldozer which includes another trip to town for parts. After a while he got it fixed and did a little more pushing around of tree. As soon as he starts on the pecan its pretty easy to see it might take a while in just over an hour he dug a hole the size of a bomb crater or pretty close and still the tree seemed to stand strong then he used this interesting technique of rocking the tree on each side causing a twisting motion after about ten minutes of this "twisting" the tree finally collapsed.

This is him trying to dig up the base the tree is really massive compared to the bulldozer. Hopefully I will have the video out soon so you can see more.

And finally the land after he finished today.

The Present

Santa Clause came by yesterday afternoon he dropped of a shiny white porta potty actually it's not really shiny. I guess the good side is maybe we won't run out of restrooms on thanksgiving.

The Machine

Last night we were eating supper outside when all of the sudden I heard this loud metal grating in front of the house. I didn't know if the mudroom was about to collapse or maybe the house was going to fall of its piers and roll down into the lake. I then realized the house wasn't moving or shaking. Dad went and looked and he said there was a truck in the driveway. So I ran inside grabbed the camera and started snapping some pictures

Actually it was just this

The landscaping guy came out and dropped off a bulldozer he had been using in the area, because he didn't want to drive it back to Sherman. I guess in a few days or so he is gonna start using it.

Breaking the Ground

We had the GEO tech core drillers come out and take samples today.

The tubes that they are holding are drilled full of dirt, and they just knock the round samples out of them.I sample of about fifteen feet down in the ground it's about as solid as a brick

Although it doesn't have much to do with the house I did manage to get myself locked in the shed today, so I had to find some tools in the dark to smash a hole in the metal.

EDIT: The reason I was locked in the shed, was because I went down there to get an extension cord and a gust of wind slammed the door behind me. But I guess there is new way to open it from the inside now
